Info About Seven Hills NV
In the mid-1980s, the Japan-based Cosmo World Corporation proposed a community known as Sky Harbor Ranch on the property. The name changed to Cosmo World and later to Silver Canyon. However, the project was cancelled in 1991 due to Cosmo World’s bankruptcy. Forest City Enterprises and Canadian developer Terry Johnston purchased the site in 1993, and in January 1996, American Nevada Corporation joined as a partner. Forest City remained the managing partner, and American Nevada became the development manager. Site preparations and negotiations with home-builders were underway by April 1996, and the entire community was expected to be completed in six to seven years.
The 1,940-acre parcel southwest of Seven Hills was sold in 2004 for $557 million and named ‘Inspirada.’ It was planned as a high-density, pedestrian-friendly, master-planned community based on “New Urbanism.” The community was modeled after towns and neighborhoods built before urban sprawl took root in the United States. The design included keeping Seven Hills and Inspirada separate areas with no interconnecting roads.
